On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Spelman College celebrated its 143rd Founders Day. Students, alumnae, faculty and staff gathered in a joyous commemoration of the day Harriet E. Giles and Sophia B. Packard founded the illustrious institution in 1881.

Actor, director and Spelman College theatre professor Keith Arthur Bolden was recently featured by American Theatre as an Atlanta-based theatre worker whose career is rooted in creative entrepreneurship and collaboration.

Attention, campus community! Research Day 2024 will be held Friday, April 19, 2024.

Each year, Research Day provides an exciting opportunity for all Spelman students to showcase their creative scholarship and research excellence. This year, nearly 250 students from various majors are expected to present research to student, staff and faculty attendees.

Join President Gayle, Errin Haines, award-winning journalist, editor-at-large and a founding mother of The 19th News, and Cynthia Neal Spence, Ph.D., Spelman associate professor of sociology and director of Spelman’s Social Justice Fellows Program, for a special installment of "Courageous Conversations: Black in the C-Suite" on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Baldwin Burroughs Theatre, Rockefeller Arts Building.

Titled "Power of the Black Woman Vote," this conversation will focus on the upcoming 2024 presidential election – described by some as the most important in our nation’s history.

Alumnae Highlights
Congratulations, Heather! Femme it Forward, a female-led music and entertainment company founded by Spelman alumna Heather Lowery, C'2001, announced a new mentorship program that continues the organization’s legacy of uplifting women in music.

MUSE (Musicians Uplifting Stars Everyday) is a multi-pronged initiative that will guide emerging artists and other creatives across different disciplines in the music industry with artists like Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu and Teyana Taylor will serving as MUSE advisers.
