Spelman College recently placed third in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National Competition (HCASC), the nation’s premier HBCU academic competition. Thirty-two teams competed in the HCASC to take home a $100,000 institutional grant. Oakwood University placed first; Howard University and Morehouse College finished within the top four.

Congratulations, Dr. Eljaiek-Rodríguez! Spelman College Spanish lecturer Gabriel Andrés Eljaiek-Rodríguez, Ph.D., was recently selected as a 2024-2025 Fellow by the National Humanities Center (NHC) for his project, Dramas and Horrors of Immigration in Latinx Cinema.

Spelman College's Food Studies Program is reframing food as more than fuel and is changing how Spelmanites engage with what's on their plates.

After hosting its own annual Food Justice Summit for five years, the Spelman Food Studies Program recently partnered with Food Tank and Emory University to co-host a Food Summit in Atlanta to discuss access, affordability, healthier choices and food as medicine in consultation with the White House Office of Public Engagement and the CDC Foundation.

Alumnae Highlights
Congratulations, Nina! Spelman alumna Nina S. Meyers, C'2018, was recently named one of 30 Under 30 by Forbes. Currently, Meyers is a growth equity investor at Goldman Sachs, leading the effort for the firm's One Million Black Women initiative a $10 billion investment commitment to narrow opportunity gaps for at least one million Black women by 2030.
