This year, the Spelman College Health Careers Program will celebrate 50 years of working to advance scholars in to the health professions. The program began due to the efforts of Audrey Forbes Manley, M.D., M.P.H., C'55. Under the leadership of Lisa Hibbard, Ph.D., and Barbara Bell, Ph.D., the program continued to grow and evolve.

"The ultimate goal is for women of color to become 21st century leaders in the healthcare industry who make a positive difference towards the elimination of health disparities in their respective communities," said Rosalind C. Gregory-Bass, M.D., M.S. C’92, program director and associate professor of environmental and health sciences.

As the program lead since 2015, Dr. Bass and the HCP team have worked to develop curricula and pipeline programs that prepare students to become competitive applicants for health-related graduate and professional schools, as well as the work place.

In recognition of their anniversary, the Health Careers program will hold a celebration for the campus community, in conjunction with their Senior Honors and Recognition Ceremony, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 6 p.m. ET. Registration for the event is required.
