Notable Announcements

The Spelman community is deeply saddened by the passing of Spelman alumna and Professor Emerita Christine King Farris, C’48 – the last surviving sibling of late civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Please note that on Tuesday, July 11, there will be increased traffic and visitors on campus to attend the service in Sisters Chapel. The public event will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. (Lying in State and Tributes) followed by private ceremonies with members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and The Links, Incorporated.

To read about Farris’ legacy, and for information on her celebration of life, visit her tribute page.
