Spelman College welcomes new trustees! The Spelman College Board of Trustees recently welcomed new Board members – Kamau Bobb, Ph.D., senior director of the Constellations Center for Equity in Computing at Georgia Tech; Sherina Maye Edwards, C’2005, alumnae trustee and executive and corporate board member; Zoe Shepard, C'2026, student trustee; and Cheryl Mayberry McKissack, founder, CEO and president of Fashion Fair Cosmetics/Black Opal, LLC.

Marionette Holmes, Ph.D., C’90, associate professor and chair of Spelman College’s economics department and principal investigator of a grant funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, is driving initiatives to increase the representation of Black women in economics doctoral programs.

In 1994, recent Spelman alumna Faune Watkins, C’2023, made her choice to change the world upon acceptance to Spelman College; however, in the spring of 1997, a major opportunity changed the course of her life and education.
