Spelman College senior Alexis Campbell, C’2024, has been awarded an English Teaching Assistant Award by the Fulbright Scholar Program. Starting in August, Campbell will travel to New Taipei City in Taiwan for 11 months to teach English as part of Fulbright’s English Assistant Program.

Student Highlights
Congratulations, Nyla! Spelman student Nyla Choates, C'2025 – an inspiring youth activist, entrepreneur and author – was featured in a recent episode of the Underground Magnolia Podcast.

The 19-year-old who founded the nonprofit My Roots Are Rich, takes a proactive stance against systemic racism by conducting a variety of self-pride and literacy workshops across the nation, as a high school student in Milpitas, California.

Alumnae Highlights
Congratulations, Wilma! San Diego County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma J. Wooten, C'78, was honored by the California Department of Public Health with its highest recognition, the Beverlee A. Myers Award for Excellence in Public Health, which is presented annually for outstanding leadership and dedication to all aspects of public health.

It's that time again! Reunion is a cherished tradition at Spelman College – a time when alumnae gather every five years to commemorate, demonstrate affection and give back to our beloved institution. This year, the Spelman College Office of Alumnae Engagement is thrilled to host returning alumnae and looks forward to recognizing all alumnae from class years ending in "4" and "9" to join in the Reunion 2024 weekend from May 16 – 19.
