Mark your calendars! Research Day 2023 will be held Friday, April 21, 2023. The Research Day Graduate & Career Fair will be held Thursday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Upper Concourse of the Albert E. Manley College Center.Each year, Research Day provides an exciting opportunity for Spelman students to showcase their creative scholarship and research excellence. This year, nearly 400 students from various majors are expected to present research to student, staff and faculty attendees.For more information, visit Spelman’s Research Day page.
Save the date! The inauguration of the College’s 11th president, Helene Gayle, M.D., MPH, will take place on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 11 a.m., during an Investiture Ceremony at Morehouse College’s King Chapel.

The four-day celebration includes a variety of events, including an Academic Symposium, on Thursday, April 27, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., in Spelman's Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center Auditorium. Bishop Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, will also deliver the keynote inauguration sermon during the Interfaith Service on Sunday, April 29, at 10 a.m.

‘Dimeji R. Togunde, Ph.D., vice provost for global education & professor of international studies in Spelman’s Gordon-Zeto Center for Global Education, along with Rokhaya Fall, contributed two chapters to the book, "The Half Yet to Be Told: Study Abroad and HBCUs." The book, published by The Forum on Education Abroad, is a part of the Standards in Action Book Series and was launched at the Forum’s 19th Annual Conference held March 22-24, 2023, in Seattle, Washington.

Campus Highlights
Today! The National Urban League invites you to the State of Black America Report® (SOBA) Release Event at Morehouse College from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. ET at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center (900 West End Avenue SW, Atlanta 30310).

This year, the 2023 SOBA report theme is "Democracy in Peril: Confronting the Threat Within," which raises the alarm on extremist ideology that is taking root in the nation’s classrooms, law enforcement and military institutions and the halls of Congress. In addition, this event will feature highlights and insights by National Urban League President Marc Morial and a panel discussion featuring Atlanta University Center (AUC) institution students.

Tomorrow! The Spelman College Department of Mathematics invites you to the 17th Annual Etta Z. Falconer Lecture taking place on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. in the Albro-Falconer-Manley Science Center NASA Auditorium.

The event's featured lecturer will be Dr. Valerie Jones, director of curriculum and instruction at the Ron Clark Academy and the founder of MATHESTEEM.

Attention Class of 2025! Do you have an interest in pursuing a career in audio media? Applications for the Spotify Scholarship are now being accepted!

The Spotify Scholarship provides financial assistance to deserving students to help defray educational costs during matriculation at Spelman College. Eligible candidates will be full-time Sophomores with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.

Alumnae Highlights
The preliminary numbers are in, and the support of Spelman alumnae was outstanding! According to the Office of Annual Giving, the Spelman Strong Founders Day 2023 11 Days of Giving Campaign raised more than $522,800 from more than 2,200 donors. Alumnae of class years ending in "3" led the competition with the highest number of donations and participating donors.
