Four Spelman College students – Love L. Lundy, C’2024, Na’Zyia S. Dowdy-Arnold, C'2025, Lauren A. Proby, C’2025, and Cydnee C. Harris, C’2025 – have earned acceptance into the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Program and will all participate in the PPIA Junior Summer Institute.

The scholars will spend six weeks participating in rigorous summer programming free of charge at one of PPIA’s six campus partners to prepare them for advanced schooling and careers in public service and leadership in both domestic and global affairs.

There's still time!
Now through April 4, 2024, travel around the world with the Department of World Languages and World Cultures to France, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, China, Colombia, Japan, Chile and Spain during the annual Spelman International Film Festival.

Viewing is available in-person in the WICE Center (World in Communication and Exchange Center), located in the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center, Lower Level, Room 16.

Join the conversation! Spelman students are invited to attend a special conversation with Undersecretary of State Uzra Zeya on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center Auditorium. Zeya is an American diplomat who has served as the Undersecretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights in the Biden Administration since July 2021.

This guest speaker is hosted by John Eaves, Ph.D., as part of his American Foreign Policy class. Students of all disciplines are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required for this event.

Congratulations, Darienne! Eastern Michigan University’s WEMU-FM recently profiled Spelman alumna Darienne Hudson, Ph.D., C'2000, president and CEO of United Way for Southeastern Michigan, located in Detroit. Before joining United Way in July 2018, she spent the previous four years as superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), the largest school district in Wisconsin.
