Spelman Trustee Lovette Russell, C'83, was recently appointed the College's new Board chair following the retirement of Rosalind (Roz) Brewer, C’84, after 17 years of service on the Board, including 12 years as Board chair.

Entrepreneurs thrive at Spelman! Spelpreneur Pitch Competition winners Chai Tchanque, Gianna Jones and Sahara Trask (1st place); Nichele Washington and Crystal Ike (2nd place); and Princess Dandoo and Kelaiah Dixon (3rd place) are exemplars of Spelman's rich culture in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Congratulations, Tai Livingston! Spelman College student Tai Livingston, C’2023, has been selected to participate in the inaugural class of the Spike Fellows at Gersh Program. Livingston is one of five students from Spelman College, Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta University who plans to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. At the end of the program, students are eligible to receive full time jobs and $25,000 in academic debt relief.

Campus Highlights
Well done, scholars! This Commencement season, Spelman College would like to congratulate the 2023 graduates of the Women of Excellence in Leadership (WELS) program. Presented by Leadership and Civic Engagement (LEADS), the program prepares students to be societal change agents through expert insight and mentorship.

Attention Class of 2025! Do you have an interest in pursuing a career in audio media? Applications for the Spotify Scholarship are once again being accepted!

The Spotify Scholarship provides financial assistance to deserving students to help defray educational costs during matriculation at Spelman College. Eligible candidates are sophomores with a GPA of 3.0 (or higher) who maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Applicants must also complete the Spelman College Scholarship application to be considered. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, May 31.

Spelman’s summer online courses allow current, incoming first-year and non-Spelman students to save money, have flexibility, join smaller class sizes, complete core classes and discover new interests outside their majors. Registration ends Friday, May 26.
