Women are experiencing a renaissance in educational attainment. However, this trend has not made it into the leadership ranks of higher education.

According to a 2019 study, although 62 percent of historically Black college and university students identify as women, only 25 percent of HBCUs have women in leadership roles.

On Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 3:30 p.m. EDT, Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., president of Spelman, will join a panel organized by the UNCF Executive Leadership Institute to discuss how women can disrupt the status quo and create new paradigms for success in the academy.

Moderated by Beverly Hogan, Ph.D., president emeritus of Tougaloo College, panelists will also discuss how they are working to seed, build, and sustain networks of African American women in higher education leadership.
