The Top 10 Graduates of the Class of 2023 – Annaya Baynes, Maya Blasingame, Kayla Bowman, Amaia Calhoun, Sydney DuPree, Alex Jenkins, Jesseca Lindsey, Chandler Nutall, Maya Phillips and Adrianna Richardson – along with their peers are preparing to take on the world and embark upon successful careers, graduate school programs and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Congratulations, Sister Omelika! On Wednesday, May 3, Spelman College recognized drummer, dancer, choreographer and cultural arts educator Omelika Kuumba for her 25 years of dedicated service.

Great work, Dr. Holloman! Spelman College vice president for student affairs, Darryl Holloman, Ph.D., was recently named 2023 Outstanding HBCU/Minority-Serving Institution Professional by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region III.

Dr. Holloman will receive his award during the organization’s regional symposium in June.

Campus Highlights
Attention Class of 2025! Do you have an interest in pursuing a career in audio media? Applications for the Spotify Scholarship are once again being accepted!

The Spotify Scholarship provides financial assistance to deserving students to help defray educational costs during matriculation at Spelman College. Eligible candidates are sophomores with a GPA of 3.0 (or higher) who maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Applicants must also complete the Spelman College Scholarship application to be considered. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, May 31.

For Spelman College student Kayli Joy Cooper, C’2026, self care is much more than face masks and scented candles. Through her non-profit, GirlWell, Cooper is giving the gift of self care to under-sheltered teen girls.

School's in for summer! Spelman’s summer online courses allow current, incoming first-year and non-Spelman students to save money, have flexibility, join smaller class sizes, complete core classes and discover new interests outside their majors.

Alumnae Highlights
Reunion is a cherished custom at Spelman College – a time when alumnae gather every five years to commemorate, demonstrate affection and give back to our beloved institution. This year, the Spelman College Office of Alumnae Engagement is thrilled to host returning alumnae and looks forward to recognizing all alumnae from class years ending in "3" and "8" to join in the Reunion 2023 weekend from May 17 – 21.
