Spelman College’s Department of Economics has been selected as a 2024 recipient of the American Economic Association’s (AEA) Award for Outstanding Achievement in Diversity and Inclusion.
To be considered for the award, recipients must take productive steps to establish programs and procedures, create an inclusive environment and increase participation of underrepresented racial/ethnic minorities, women and LGBTQ+ individuals in their economics communities.

Spelpreneur is a co-curricular education initiative that fosters entrepreneurship and innovation at Spelman College. Spelpreneur educates, inspires and empowers students. It is open to all current Spelman students.
The 2025 spring semester will run from January 21 - March 18, 2025. Spelpreneur sessions are on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. unless communicated differently.
Congratulations, Kelli and Anika! Spelman College alumnae Kelli M. Coleman and Anika J. Odegbo, both C'2006, are celebrating a significant business milestone. Their Detroit-based multipurpose spa, The TEN Nail Bar, is set to expand its operations nationwide.
Prior to becoming business partners, the two were roommates during their time at Spelman.
