Spelman College recently partnered with Tapestry Networks to host Reimagining the Future of Talent, a productive dialogue among leading executives, thought leaders and Spelman and Morehouse students and faculty on the evolving landscape of corporate culture, talent, workplace equity and technology.

Throughout the day, students and faculty engaged with global business leaders to share perspectives about the evolution of today’s workforce, touching on topics such as the evolving concept of the career journey, the erosion of workplace loyalty, emerging technologies, work-life balance expectations and more.

Faculty & Staff Highlights

Rosetta Ross, Ph.D., professor of philosophy and religious studies, and Georgia State University’s Dr. Monique Moultrie, professor of religious studies, will host a two-day conference, “When We Lead: Black Women’s Spiritual Activism and Social Change Conference,” on Oct. 4 and 5 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta.

The groundbreaking event will bring together scholars, religious leaders, activists and community members to explore the significant impact of Black women’s leadership in religious activism and social justice movements. Attendees can look forward to in-depth discussions, mentoring opportunities and professional development sessions aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of Black women’s spiritual leadership across diverse religious traditions.

Student Highlights

A big thank you! Spelman College would like to recognize and thank our college's dedicated essential workers – Spelman College Department of Public Safety, Spelman College Division of Student Affairs, Spelman College Division of Communications & External Relations, Facilities Management & Services (FMS) and Bon Appétit – for jumping into action during Tropical Storm Helene.

Despite severe weather threatening to upend our campus operations, these teams came together to support our students, our grounds and each other. Thank you for helping us weather this storm!

The College would also like to extend a thank you to our students and families for your patience, cooperation and adaptability and to our faculty for pivoting quickly to support our academic mission.

Interested in studying abroad? Spelman College's Gordon-Zeto Center for Global Education, in partnership with CIEE, CEACAPA and IES Abroad is offering eight study abroad programs in several destinations worldwide. These two-week programs count towards a general college elective or a non-major elective.

Program destinations include London, England; Milan, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; and Santiago, Chile. Selection is on a first come, first served basis.

Alumnae Highlights

Alumna Reagan Taylor Fondren, C'2001, recently succeeded former United States Attorney Kevin G. Ritz as the Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee pursuant to the Vacancies Reform Act.

Prior to her promotion, Fondren served as first assistant since October 2022. She completed her undergraduate studies at Spelman College and her law degree at the University of Tennessee College of Law. Fondren has worked in federal public service with the United States Department of Justice for her entire career and has served as an Assistant United States Attorney for over 16 years.
