Under the direction of Dr. Kevin Johnson, members of the Spelman College Glee Club performed "America the Beautiful" at the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta.

Celebrating its centennial year, the Glee Club is the oldest collegiate choir of African American women in the United States who have not only preserved the legacy of Black choral music but have also inspired generations of young women to find their voices and share their artistry with the world.

Housing applications due January 31! The 2025-2026 academic year housing selection process is open through Friday, January 31, 2025.

Because interest in on-campus housing exceeds the number of beds available, not all students who want to live on campus will be able to do so. The Spelman College Office of Housing & Residence Life urges students and families to start the planning process now.

Need a passport?
The AUC is hosting an AUC Passport Fair on Thursday, February 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Clark Atlanta University's Thomas W. Cole Exhibition Hall.

This event is open to all students, faculty and staff planning to apply for a passport or to renew a passport. No appointment is necessary, but attendees must have acceptable passport photos to apply.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, one of the world’s most popular dance companies and America’s cultural ambassador to the world, returns to the Fox Theatre this February 12-16 for six exciting performances.

The opening performance on Wednesday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. is also College Night. Spelman College students will be able to access single tickets for $15 each and two tickets for $25 using the promotional code COLLEGE.

Alumnae Highlights

Congratulations, Layli! Spelman College alumna Layli Maparyan, Ph.D., C'86, was recently appointed the 16th president of the University of Liberia in Africa.

Prior to her appointment, Dr. Maparyan served as the executive director of the Wellesley Centers for Women and a professor of African studies at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.
