Campus Highlights

Adamma and Adanne Ebo, C'2013, director/writer and producer of the new satirical comedy Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. starring Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown, recently returned to the AUC for a special film screening at Morehouse College’s Bank of America Auditorium.

In the film, Hall and Brown star as First Lady Trinitie Childs and Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs, a couple committed to reopening and drawing parishioners back to their shuttered Southern Baptist megachurch following a scandal. The film, which also boasts Nope star Daniel Kaluuya as a producer, is already garnering solid reviews from critics and audiences.

The intimate event drew approximately 75 Spelman students, Spelman staff and other AUC students that had the opportunity to preview the film, participate in a Q&A moderated by Lynae Vanee, C'2016, and receive dinner provided by the studio. Dana Gills, C'2001, served as hostess for the event, touching on the opportunities available for students interested in film and media.

The screening inspired a lively discussion with the Ebo sisters, covering topics such as intersectionality, identity expression, the cultural impact of religious traditions and transitioning from academia at an HBCU to a PWI.

Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. is now playing in theaters.
