Spelman College Interim President Rosalind "Roz" Brewer, C'84, was recently included in the ESSENCE 2025 Women's Playbook, its second annual ESSENCE Black Women in Sports list spotlighting the MVPs who have transformed the game in extraordinary ways.

Experience musical elegance! The Spelman College Department of Music is pleased to present the Rhapsody in Ebony Chamber Music Recital on Sunday, February 16, at 2 p.m. in the Mary Schmidt Campbell Center for Innovation & the Arts Room 200.

Rhapsody in Ebony is a classical music ensemble comprised of critically acclaimed, world-class musicians of the African diaspora.

is pleased to present We Say What Black This Is, an exhibition showcasing mixed media and watercolor paintings by MacArthur award-winning artist Amanda Williams.

The new exhibit will be on view through May 24, 2025.

The exhibit challenges reductive definitions of Blackness, instead celebrating its diversity, resilience and depth.

Spelman College student Kamora Freeland, C'2028, is paving the way for Black girls who see a future in flight. According to reports, the teenager passed her private pilot's license last year, becoming the youngest pilot in New York and the youngest Black female pilot.

Congratulations, Avery! Alumna Avery*Sunshine, C'98, recently tied with NxWorries to win Best Progressive R&B Album at the 67th annual Grammy Awards.

Her album, "So Glad to Know You," marked Sunshine's first nomination and win in a category that also included Bando Stone and the New World by five-time winner and Atlanta-centric performer Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino.
