WABE, Atlanta’s NPR and PBS station, will kick off its #SpelHouse 2024 celebration with a special WABE TV (PBS-30) broadcast of "Sounds Like ATL: Spelman Glee Club at Serenbe" at 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 19.

The broadcast is part of WABE's multiplatform, weeklong celebration of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) happening Oct. 19-26, 2024.

Today! Spelman College will host a screening of Chisholm '72: Unbought & Unbossed today, October 15, at 6 p.m. in Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Auditorium. Directed by Spelman’s new director of documentary filmmaking and Diana King Endowed Professor Shola Lynch, the documentary focuses on Shirley Chisholm's historic 1972 campaign for the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Lynch and film and television director Professor Emerita Ayoka Chenzira, Ph.D.

Tomorrow! Join the Spelman College Department of World Languages and Cultures on Wednesday, October 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Camille Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center Auditorium for "Where We Stand: Perspectives from Djamila Ribeiro," an insightful lecture exploring race, gender and social justice.

Centered around the work of prominent Brazilian writer, philosopher and activist Djamila Ribeiro, this event will also feature an interactive Q&A session and book signing opportunity. This event is free and open to the public.

Spelman College COVID-19 Operations, in partnership with the Fulton County Board of Health, will host Community COVID-19 & Flu Vaccination Drives tomorrow, October 16, and Wednesday, October 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Beverly D. Tatum Suites Private Dining Room.


Participants should be sure to bring a state-issued form of ID and their medical insurance cards and are urged to allow up to 30 minutes for the vaccination clinic process.
Mark your calendars! The AUCC Student Health and Wellness Center and Morehouse Healthcare will be hosting a Breast Cancer Walk on October 18, from 12:30 p.m.to 1:30 p.m.

The walk starts at 455 Lee St. and is open to staff, faculty, students and community members. This is a great opportunity to show your support for breast cancer awareness and engage with the AUC community.

The Spelman College Teaching Research and Research Center (TRCC) and Office of Office of Research, Innovation, and Collaboration (ORIC) invite the campus community to hear about the work of Dr. Shantesica Gilliam of Environmental & Health Sciences and Dr. Sophie Vainer of World Languages & Cultures, on October 17 from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

This event is open to Spelman students, faculty and staff via Zoom.

Apply today! Created by filmmaker Spike Lee and the Gersh Agency, the fellowship supports undergraduate students at the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) – Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College and Spelman College – with an interest in the film industry.

The program is based on the principle that access plus exposure will create opportunities and is open to junior and senior students with a 3.0 GPA.
