Spelman College is one of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) included this year in Forbes' annual list of America's top 500 colleges.

Spelman is joined by Howard University, Morehouse College, Florida A&M University, North Carolina State University and Hampton University.

Congratulations, Clare! Clare Harvey, C'2026, was selected as a Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholar.

The sociology major plans to focus on the intersection of environmental and social justice issues affecting minority communities to foster a more equitable and environmentally sustainable society.

Calling Spelman faculty, staff and students!
The Brookings Institution and Spelman College will convene on September 9-10, 2024 in the Rockefeller Arts Building to present The promise and perils of AI: Issues at stake in the 2024 election.

This two-day event will explore the issues policymakers will confront with the increasing adoption and implementation of AI and what policies or guardrails will be needed to seize upon its opportunities while mitigating its risks.

Alumnae Highlights

Congratulations, Alisha! Spelman College alumna Alisha Knight has been named the inaugural executive director of faculty diversity at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

She has two decades of higher education experience, most recently serving as a professor of English and the associate provost for diversity and inclusion at Washington College.
