Congratulations, Dr. Cole!
We are pleased to share a recent high honor for Spelman College President Emerita Johnnetta Betsch Cole, Ph.D.

President Joseph R. Biden presented Dr. Cole with a 2021 National Humanities Medal on March 21, 2023, at the White House award ceremony for the 2021 National Humanities Medals.

Angelino Viceisza, Ph.D., associate professor of economics at Spelman and research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, has been named the new president of the National Economic Association for the 2023-2024 term.

Spelman’s Food Studies Program will host its virtual Food Justice Summit on Thursday, March 30 at 6 p.m. the program's annual signature food justice event highlighting Black women food scholars.

This year’s summit focuses on using food as medicine and will feature Black women health specialists, such as Tamara Melton, MS, RDN, of Diversify Dietetics; Tambra Raye Stevenson, MPH, of Wanda; and Spelman alumna and faculty member Rosalind Gregory-Bass, M.D., with Rose Scott serving as moderator.
