Greetings Spelman Community,

Recognizing that this semester without breaks was a challenge to mental health and wellbeing, Spelman College, along with other colleges in the Atlanta University Center, is making a change to the academic calendar in the second semester.

No classes will be held on the two days ahead of Good Friday, April 2. The College will still be open, but there will be no classes on Wednesday, March 31 – Friday, April 2. As a reminder, the spring semester will begin on Monday, Feb. 1.

Spelman’s Coronavirus Task Force continues to work on plans for the path forward for next semester with our guiding values in mind:

1. The health and safety of our students and the Spelman workforce
2. Our ability to provide academic excellence
3. The fiscal sustainability of the College

A full statement about plans for spring will be released in the next 10 days.

Respectfully,
Sharon L. Davies, J.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
