Dear Students and Faculty,

Late last week, Spelman student leaders wrote to President Campbell, asking the College to cancel tomorrow’s classes in honor of Election Day, in order to allow students more time to vote and to volunteer as poll workers. President Campbell and Provost Davies asked Faculty Council to poll the faculty to determine their support for the idea. A strong majority of the faculty supported the request, but others were concerned about the loss of class time in an already accelerated semester.

The College has decided to allow each faculty member to decide whether to cancel their classes. Students with Tuesday class days should check in with their professors.

Whether your class is held or not, we encourage all members of the Spelman community to vote.
