Dear Spelman Community,
Thank you for taking extra precautions over the past two weeks to help curb the spread of respiratory viruses within the community. COVID-19 cases within the AUCC (Atlanta University Center Consortium) institutions have
sharply declined and after a reassessment by the AUCC Student Health and Wellness Committee and the Council of Presidents, our institutions can resume normal campus activities.
As you know, we are now in a different phase of COVID-19 management with many resources and preventative tools available. Please be mindful that we may likely experience increases in respiratory infections from time to time, especially in the fall season. It is clear that we need to continue to adapt to living safely with COVID-19 as we have with other respiratory infections.
We encourage you to continue taking personal preventative measures that we know works to protect yourself and others:
- Frequent handwashing or use of hand sanitizer
- Wear a face mask as needed.
- Engage in respiratory care by covering up sneezes and coughs.
- Stay home if you feel sick and take a COVID-19
self-test.
- If you test positive for COVID-19, self-isolate for 5 days and speak with a health care provider about your care.
- Follow COVID-19 isolation and exposure guidance.
- Stay up-to-date on vaccination recommendations.
We will continue to provide free access to preventative supplies. Surgical masks are available in masking stations throughout campus buildings. In addition, KN95 masks, disinfecting hand sanitizer and rapid antigen self-test kits are available through Spelman College COVID-19 Operations at 404-270-5407.
Thank you,
Spelman College
