Greetings Spelman community,
A sea change around equity in the corporate landscape is on the horizon.
The media is filled with announcements – and actions - from global and local companies about their strategic investments in diversity, inclusion and equality. Because of the critical roles that Black women in leadership play in today’s shifting environment, Spelman College is hosting a new virtual series, “Courageous Conversations: Black in the C-Suite.”
The goal of Courageous Conversations is to inform and inspire.
Each event will feature an in-depth conversation between Spelman College President, Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., and distinguished guests to share their corporate and personal journeys, working through crisis and the opportunities for Black women leaders as equity becomes more valued across professions.
The speaker for the first conversation on Thursday, Sept. 17, is Robin Washington, formerly the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Gilead Sciences, Inc., a research-based biopharmaceutical company. Currently, she serves as a member of the boards of directors of Alphabet, Inc., Honeywell International, Inc., and Salesforce.com.
