June 21, 2022Spelman students,We hope you are enjoying the summer break thus far. As you prepare to make plans for the fall semester, there's some important health guidance to keep in mind.

For the 2022 fall semester, all students are required to be up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations (i.e. completed the primary series of COVID-19 vaccine and receive a booster if eligible).

Staying up to date on vaccinations offers the best individual and community protection against the evolving COVID-19 virus. The CDC recommends getting a booster five (5) months after completing the primary series of the Pfizer or Moderna, and two (2) months after receiving the Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine. International students can receive COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization. All students new to Spelman must upload COVID-19 vaccination records and all returning students must upload up-to-date booster vaccination records using Etrieve- Return to Campus Documentation by July 8th, 2022. To log into Etrieve, enter your Spelman ID and password, and click the OneSpelman icon on the log in page. You must log in by using the OneSpelman icon on the login in page and NOT the local username and password or personal Gmail account.Exemptions to the vaccination requirement will only be considered for medical or religious reasons.Medical Exemption: To apply for a medical exemption for the vaccination requirement, you must submit a letter from your healthcare provider explaining the specific nature and probable duration of the medical condition or circumstances that contraindicate immunization with the COVID-19 vaccine, including the time period for which the exemption is valid. The letter must certify that the provider has examined you and is of the opinion that your health would be endangered by the immunization.Religious Exemption: To apply for a religious exemption, you must submit a personal written statement explaining why immunization is contrary to your religious beliefs and that your objections to vaccination are not based solely on grounds of personal philosophy or inconvenience.Your medical or religious exemption letter must be uploaded and submitted through Etrieve- Return to Campus Documentation using the submission type that applies to you: COVID-19 Vaccine Waiver- Medical or COVID-19 Vaccine Waiver- Religious. Your exemption request will be reviewed, and you will be notified of approval or denial. The deadline for submission is July 8th, 2022.Thank you for taking these necessary steps to protect yourself and keep our community safe.
Kind Regards,
