Spelman Community,

This weekend, as we commemorate another year of Spelman College and Morehouse College Homecoming festivities, the guidance below has been compiled to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for all.

COVID Protocols

At this time, there are no entry requirements for guests. Masks are optional for all who are attending campus events. However, we strongly encourage attendees (including faculty, staff and students) to make decisions that are in the best interest of their health.

Spelman COVID-19 Operations asks that all community members be personally responsible by self-monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms. Individuals who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who test positive for COVID-19 should avoid coming onto campus. We advise all individuals to self-test with an at-home rapid test as needed.

Parking and Campus Access and Instructions

Please adhere to the following information and instructions to access the campus this weekend during Homecoming.

Friday, October 27:

  • Spelman’s front gate at Westview Drive will be open to vehicular traffic until 11:30 a.m. All students, faculty and staff who are enrolled in Spelman’s parking program will have access to campus parking lots and the West Campus Parking Deck. Vehicular traffic will be required to enter and exit campus through the Beverly D. Tatum (BDT) Suites Roadway between 11:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

  • Visitors will have access to the West Campus Parking Deck until 11:30 a.m. as space allows and will exit via BDT Suites Roadway. Once the West Campus Parking Deck is full, visitors will have to park at Morehouse College or find surrounding area parking.

  • There will be limited vendor parking on campus and limited vehicular access to Manley Roadway due to high pedestrian traffic. The Spelman College Greensferry entrance will be used for emergency (Fire/EMS) vehicles only. Between 11:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., the College will not allow rideshare and food drop off on campus. However, Westview Drive at West End Ave. may be an alternate point for pickup and drop offs.

Saturday, October 28:

  • Between 7:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., students, faculty and staff enrolled in Spelman’s parking program will have access to the West Campus Parking Desk. Parking will also be available at the Morehouse School of Medicine deck for a cost of $20.00.

  • The Greensferry entrance will open at 11:00 a.m. to Spelman residential students, faculty, and staff enrolled in the parking program to enter campus. All vehicles must exit via the BDT Suites Roadway and will be diverted onto Westview Drive, traveling eastbound toward Chapel Street.

  • At 11:30 a.m., the intersection of Lee Street SW and Westview Drive SW will be closed to vehicular traffic and open only for pedestrian foot traffic. The intersection of West End Avenue SW and Chapel Street will be open to essential personnel and emergency vehicles only.

  • Bus Shuttle Service: The first shuttle stop will pick up at the NAPA Yellow Lot (Google Street View) located at 413 Gray Street Atlanta, GA 30314. (The parking lot entrance is off Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard and Northside Drive.)

The second shuttle stop will be located at Friendship Baptist Church located at 80 Walnut Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30314. Note: Off-site parking is $20 at both the NAPA Yellow Lot and Friendship Baptist church. After picking up via the designated parking lots, all attendees will be transported to campus and dropped off at the BDT Suites Gate across from the Morehouse School of Medicine on Westview entrance.

  • From 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., rideshare and food delivery will not be available on campus. Please use Westview Drive SW and West End Avenue SW as an alternate point for pickup and drop offs.

We look forward to welcoming our community and visitors to campus to celebrate and enjoy this festive occasion.

Regards,
