Dear Spelman Community,
As someone who recognizes the perils of climate change, I am in full support of the activities that Dr. Aditi Pai and our faculty colleagues at Spelman are planning this week in order to protest policies and practices that hasten climate change. I applaud their leadership and believe that our Spelman community should be actively involved in taking steps to counter climate change.
I plan to speak at the Spelman College Climate Strike on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at noon.
At the same time, I recognize the demands of the curriculum, especially as we approach midterms. I write to remind students and faculty members that those who have class require permission from their faculty member to participate in the one-hour strike from noon to 1 p.m.
The location of the event and more details will be shared with the Spelman community.
