Dear Spelman Community,

You're invited to screen the documentary "The Historic Goodbye: Losing a Loved One During a Pandemic," highlighting the life of dedicated Spelman College alumna and advocate, retired educator and Atlanta native Ernestine Miles Mann, C'57, this Sunday, August 6 at 3:00 p.m., in the Dr. Lester Butts Fine Arts Theater at Frederick Douglass High School (225 Hamilton E. Holmes Dr. Atlanta, GA 30318).

Mann first c
ame to Spelman as a nursery school student in the 1940s and was later awarded the College's Founders Spirit Award in 2017. In 2020, she became the 32nd person in Georgia – and the first known Spelmanite – to succumb to COVID-19.

While her family was unable to hold a public memorial, Mann's daughter and Spelman alumna Karla McKinney, C'87, produced the documentary in honor of her mother. The film highlights Mrs. Mann’s historic life journey and features insights and anecdotes from Spelman alumnae Kathleen Bertrand, C'73; Linda Patton, C'88; and Adrienne Lance-Lucas, C'90 to name a few.

You can view the extended trailer via Vimeo. For more information, call 404-446-6631.

Regards,
