Spelman Community,
Today, Student Trustee Elizabeth Gowans, C'2023, represented Spelman College at The White House as a student journalist during a special briefing with Vice President Kamala Harris and Senior Advisor to the President for Public Engagement and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
During the briefing, Gowans asked Senior Advisor Bottoms about plans to address "the historic underfunding of HBCUs and minority serving institutions." Gowans is also a representative of The Blue Record, the official podcast produced by Spelman Social Justice Program students.
