Dear Spelman Students,

This is to alert you that our community is in a heightened season of flu and respiratory viruses among our student population with cases on the rise. For your safety, please note that our indoor masking advisory is still in effect and will continue for the remainder of the Fall semester.

Please continue to practice preventative measures, like the following, to keep yourself and your Spelman sisters safe:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
  • Wear a mask, especially when in crowded gatherings like festivals, concerts, sporting events or parties.
  • Engage in respiratory care by covering up sneezes and coughs.
  • Stay home if you feel sick and talk with a health care provider.
  • Stay up-to-date on flu and COVID-19 vaccination recommendations.
  • Do not share food, beverages, or utensils

In addition, through the end of the semester, we will continue to provide you free access to preventative supplies such as KN95 masks, disinfecting hand sanitizer and rapid antigen self-test kits, which are available in the Beverly D. Tatum Suites Private Dining Room each Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kind Regards,

Yemi Brown, PharmD
