Dear Spelman Community,

Spelman College joins the nation in expressing our condolences for those who perished in the Bahamas during Hurricane Dorian.

Our heartfelt sympathies also go to those whose properties and means of likelihood were destroyed.

As a global community, we are particularly expressing our support to the three Spelman international students from Bahamas, other Bahamian students and members of our community with ties to the island whose families and loved ones were impacted by the hurricane.

We are making arrangements to ensure that these students receive proper support and guidance during this difficult time.

Spelman's Counseling Office and Sisters Chapel are ready to support students and other members of our community who are feeling helpless, stressed and overwhelmed by the impact of the hurricane. We want them to know that they have a place to talk, commune and pray.

The College will continue to monitor the students' situation and will remain attentive to their needs while we watch the climatic changes of the storm.

Sincerely,

Dr. 'Dimeji R. Togunde
