Dear Spelman Community,
Please join me in celebrating Robert "Danny" Flanigan Jr., and his 50 years of service to Spelman College.
Danny is a legend in the world of finance, as well as a source of stability in the Investment Office and throughout the Spelman community.
His presence, institutional knowledge, and counsel have provided insight and foresight when it mattered most.
After joining the Spelman team in 1970, he progressed from assistant to
the business manager to treasurer and vice president for the Division of Business and Financial Affairs, and ultimately executive vice-president, treasurer and chief investment officer.
During his tenure, he managed more than $600 million of the College’s assets, and was instrumental in the development and construction of several buildings on campus including the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D. Academic Center and the Albro-Falconer-Manley Science Center. He also developed funding sources to support the renovation of the Manley Center, MacVicar and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller residence halls.
For
many years he oversaw public safety, the dining hall, the bookstore, parking and facilities and grounds management. His expertise and stewardship have ensured institutional budgets remain balanced as he has steadily strengthened the College’s finances.
In his current role as executive vice president, treasurer and chief investment officer, Danny continues to create profitable strategies that guarantee Spelman’s present and future.
We salute you, Danny Flanigan!
Spelman remains a viable institution because of your tireless commitment and support. Thank you for your dedication to our community over the decades. We look forward to
celebrating many more!
Best regards,
|
