Greetings,

You are invited to join Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., president of Spelman College, for a public session of the 2020 President's Reading Circle at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 4, via the Zoom platform.

During this final virtual gathering of the Reading Circle series, Dr. Campbell will be joined by Bernardine Evaristo, author of "Girl, Woman, Other."

The 2019 winner of the Booker Prize, the British equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize, Evaristo is the first Black woman and first Black British person to win the prestigious award.

In "Girl, Woman, Other," Evaristo offers a magnificent portrayal of the intersections of identity through a stirring narrative that paints a vivid portrait of the state of contemporary Britain, and looks back to the legacy of Britain’s colonial history in Africa and the Caribbean.

In addition to Evaristo's novel, the 2020 President’s Reading Circle also enjoyed the New York Times’ best selling novel and a Good Morning America Book Club selection "The Vanishing Half," by Brit Bennett.
