Dear Spelman Community,
Today, we are proud to announce that Spelman
College is being recognized for its impact and legacy of academic excellence on a national scale. The College is the recipient of two prestigious recognitions - Fulbright HBCU Institutional Leader for 2023, and top rankings in the U.S. News & World Report 2024 Best Colleges Report.
The announcement of the 19 Fulbright HBCU Institutional Leaders was made today by the State Department in advance of the White House Initiative on HBCUs’ National HBCU Week Conference. Each year, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) recognizes the strong engagement of select HBCUs with the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government's flagship international academic exchange program. Spelman has been featured in each of the four years of the initiative in 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020.
U.S. News and World Report has now ranked Spelman College among the Top 40 Best National Liberal Arts
institutions in the nation, moving up from No. 51 to No. 39. Spelman maintains its ranking as the No. 1 HBCU for the 17th consecutive year and moved up from No. 5 to No. 2 on the list of Top Performers in Social Mobility.
