Dear Spelman family,

With great sorrow, I write to share news of the heartbreaking loss of Raymond Jackson, support services technician II of Spelman Technology Services, who died at his home this past weekend.

Raymond joined the Spelman family in 2019. In the 2 years he spent with the College, Raymond was instrumental in supporting the transition to the Cisco Voice Over IP (VOIP) phone system and provided critical support during several major IT initiatives.

Raymond loved working for Spelman and supporting the College's mission and strategic vision. He was known across campus for his sense of humor and his willingness to always help when needed.

On behalf of the entire Spelman community, I extend condolences to all members of the close-knit STS team. I am so sorry to learn of the death of your colleague and friend. Losing someone who works with you on a daily basis can feel like losing a member of your family.

Losing someone as young and as talented as Raymond, who has a young family, feels like a particularly grievous loss.

Spelman offers its deepest sympathy to his wife and children, and all who worked closely with him and had an opportunity to experience his kind and patient spirit.

Best regards,
Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D.
President, Spelman College
